Incoming Students

First of all, we are excited that you have taken the time to investigate your options for spiritual growth in college. This is a significant season in your life, a time in which you will be developing the character, disciplines, philosophy, and world–view that will shape your adult life. The Christian Challenge can help you successfully navigate this time in your life from a biblical, spirit–led perspective.

The Baptist Student Union Christian Challenge at New Mexico State is committed to taking the gospel to our campus and to the universities of the world. We are strongly involved in making disciple–makers through one–to–one covenant relationships. If you allow us, we will have one of our older students meet with you one–to–one to encourage and challenge you to mature in your faith and, in turn, begin to disciple others.

In addition, we train students to share the gospel on our campus. That takes place in a one–to–one setting as well. We have seen some great things happen over the years — and through it all, our students gain confidence and courage in being the Great Commission Christians they are called to be. We give them a lot of help toward that goal.

We also mobilize students toward a global world view. We have adopted 3 unreached cities in the world — one in East Asia, one in North Africa and one in a Former Soviet Union country. We send student teams every year to these partner cities. When 2009 draws to a close in December, we will have sent 74 students over the last four years to serve on 13 teams for 8 weeks each.

Of course we have some fun. We do retreats, intramurals, worship, game nights, road trips, theme parties, etc. It’s a great place to invest your life. Our hope is that you will let us get to know you, that you will take the time to get to know us, and that together we will challenge each other to be Jesus followers!
