This $1,000 per year scholarship was established in honor and memory of Bill Don Naul.  The gifts that make this scholarship possible were provided in response to the life of a man whose own life was dedicated to giving.

Bill Don came to NMSU from Lovington, NM.  Following his marriage to Barbara McCants in 1956, he chose to stay.  During his school years he was active in the life of Christian Challenge (BSU) students with a love and intensity few achieve.  His idea of support included opening his home to provide a place to stay and good food to eat; opening his shop to provide a place for cars to be worked on and many lessons taught; driving a boat load of students to Caballo Lake and skiing them until they couldn’t stand up; putting them to work when they needed money, he needed help, or both parties needed something to do just to stay out of trouble.  Support also meant his time as a sponsor for Collegiate Week at Glorieta and Leadership Training Conference and it meant his money as God showed him the needs.

This scholarship exists not because he was a good man, but because he was a real Christian.  His convictions ran deep and he acted on those convictions without hesitation.  He was a father and friend to numberless college students through the way he lived and served.  He was sick most of his adult life and when he looked at himself he found little joy.  When he looked away he would discover need, opportunity, ministry, and in reaching out he forgot himself and found fulfillment.

He gave all of his life and in response to that, those whom he touched have made it possible for him to give until God calls us all home and we meet him again.
